Why does the show take place in Mapua?

Mapua is a great spot to visit, it’s close to Nelson and the convenience of Nelson Airport. We attract lots of visitors from within New Zealand and overseas every year. We are also a creative hub with some wonderful galleries, artists’ studios and artisan/makers in the region.

What else is there to do locally if I come and stay?

Kilometres of safe cycling on well-maintained paths on the Tasman Great Taste Trail. Beaches and the outdoor life are big attractions for visitors. The busy Wharf at Mapua has restaurants, bars, fish and chips and ice creams alongside galleries and homeware shops. Right on the Estuary looking out to sea, the Wharf is always lively and is now pedestrianised most of the day so safe for children to run about. Close by is The Moutere which is another creative hub, visit Moutere Artisan’s site for details and Upper Moutere village is worth a visit for The Old Post Office and the Katie Gold and Owen Bartlett Pottery. Wineries a dotted all around the region and many offer tastings and/or food. The region is also home to the World of Wearable Art Museum and WoW Classic Cars. There are heaps of accommodation options from budget camping in the heart of Mapua right by the sea to high end lodges. Every year we welcome thousands of visitors to our beautiful region - we hope you decide to enter the Awards and perhaps come down and visit for the exhibition - make a holiday of it!
